5lbs in 5days Review and Berry Crunch Smoothie Recipe

As promised here is an update on how I got on with the 5lbs in 5 days detox by Jason Vale and my Philips Viva Juicer*.

I am a serious foodie -the type who thinks about dinner at breakfast and breakfast at dinner. I remember most things by restaurants or what I was eating(– happy memories, breakups, makeups etc) like to think of it as a gift. I was scared about how the Detox was going to go, the Day before I though I may be writing to you guys telling you I craved when offered something truly delectable but I did it.

My name is Ngoni and I did the 5lbs n 5 days detox and lost 5lbs! It wasn’t easy but at after my second day epiphany it was. Once I told myself that it is only for 5 days and wasn’t going to kill me I was able to go on. When I say it wasn’t easy I mean that I missed chewing, and for the first two days it really didn’t help seeing everyone else eat but once I had stern words with myself I could do it. It was pretty cool realising that I actually do have willpower! The juice were tasty not tasty like a calorie laden slutty brown but tasty like a healthy good for you juice or one of my vegan banana muffins.

You start the day with a ginger and apple shot – I felt a cold coming on Sunday evening but having this daily definitely kept that bad boy away also I have year round ‘hayfever’ I take an antihistamine daily and I didn’t do it this week the only thing I took was my iron tablet which I also do daily. My allergies didn’t flare up so I’m going to continue doing this in the mornings. I may pick up some nasal sprays too so that I’m keeping them free from all the pollen, I’ll have to check out some links online like https://serp.co/best/nasal-moisturizers/ or go into my local pharmacy to see what’s available.

I usually have a green smoothie for breakfast anyway or porridge but after doing the detox I definitely plan on doing it for atleast one day a week or two days a week. A version of the 5:2 Vale recommends.

I feel and felt great and clean. I had energy- I really thought I would be all kinds of lethargic but I was fine, great even. Well, I have always heard nutritionists saying that we should change our diet plans once in a while so that it works better. Keeping that in mind, I am also planning to add artemisinin supplement that would aid in my detoxification journey.

Coming back to the main topic of today’s discussion, the Viva Juicer is very easy to use and clean.

You will need:

2 Large handfuls of berries

2 Apples (I used Golden Delicious)

2 Tablespoons of natural yoghurt

2 Tablespoons of mixed seeds


1. Begin by juicing your apples

So thats it my little review. I can’t express to you just how good this detox was for me.

Most importantly I learnt alot about false hungers and when I really need to eat.
