Interview| The Style Crusader

I like Jen, She is one of those bloggers that comes across as approachable, fun and down to earth.

What made you start your blog?

- The desire to escape! I started my blog just before I began a
masters in Political Theory - it provided the perfect distraction from
all the reading I had to do for my degree.

How would you define your personal style?

- Simple and casual. I'm not into over styling a look or wearing
something just because it's trendy. I stick to the basics I love and
work in bold accessories or a bright piece.

Where do you love to shop? - I'm a sucker for Acne and Topshop. I love American Apparel for basics and Net-a-porter for luxury.

What do you do when your not blogging? - I work freelance so I spend my days working from home (often in my pajamas - eek). I'm hooked on the Sopranos, love throwing Mexican themed parties and spend as much time as possible exploring new places. Nothing beats wandering around a city looking for new gems.

Who or What inspires you? - Just about everything has the potential to inspire me. From a house plant to a friend's clever outfit - I find inspiration everywhere. Blogs, museums, grocery stores... it's random but I think inspiration is everywhere, I don't look to one specific place. When I'm feeling really in need of a boost nothing does the trick better than hopping on a train and going to explore a new city.

What can you not live without? - Coffee and style.com What has been your greatest achievement so far? - Ohh, that's tough. I got married when I was 20 and moved abroad to marry my high school sweet heart. Looking back it seems like a crazy decision. It probably was but it has worked out perfectly. I think my greatest achievement was having the courage to take that step and having the faith to believe it would be ok.

Designer or High Street? - Definitely a mix of both. Although, I'm pretty picky about what high street I'll dabble in. There's nothing worse than finding out you've got a closet full of trendy poorly made items. I'd rather invest in basics that I can wear season after season then spend a little every week on a quick fashion fix.

Are you a bag, shoe or jewellery woman? - I don't go totally nuts for one specifically - I'm a bit crazy for them all!

What has been your greatest Fashion faux par so far? - Haha, I'm sure I'll look back and think a few of the things I'm wearing right now are atrocious. I used to have a pink denim jacket with a massive Looney Tunes embroidery on the back - that was pretty bad.

Who is your favourite designer? - Ah, it depends. I love the greats like Azzedine Alaia, McQueen and Nicolas Ghesquière. But also more wearable designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang. Some of my favorite young designers in London at the moment are Charlie May and Flik Hall.

Any style icons? Besides the obvious ones like Audrey Hepburn... I love seeing the way fashion editors dress at the moment. Taylor Tomasi Hill and Caroline Issa are particular favourites.

Where are we most likely to spot you? At a coffee shop or on the street taking photos.
