What to do in Geneva

When visiting a new country or city the hardest thing is finding out all the best places. So using the Make My Switzerland Apps and recommendations from locals I had a blast and made a visual diary of my recent trip to Geneva for you. So no excuses ;)! What to do in Geneva

Day 1 in Geneva Pt1

After checking in to my hotel (Eastwest) I explored  the Old Town and Les Rues Basses, walking through pretty, paved narrow streets. I headed to Angoletta (Place du Bourg-de-Four 16, 1204 Genève, Switzerland +41 22 310 57 14) for a Stracciatella Milkshake and then went to check out the Reformation Wall (a monument to the people who made Geneva the “Protestant Rome”) And I also played giant chess!

Day 1 Pt 2

Geneva is just so easy to walk around and explore.

I ended up having a creamy cake on the Island of Rousseau in Geneva, it is a small Cafe/lunch place in a Gazebo with lots of outdoor seating (Place du Molard 5, 1204 Geneva,+41 22 311 85 86).

I had dinner at ‘The Cottage Cafe’ it was round the corner from my hotel. It is a quant little tapas place very close to the center of the town. The goats cheese and figs were amazing!!!

Then it was back to my hotel for an early night and Game of Thrones catch-up!

DAY 2 in Geneva.

I did a quick 4K run and then headed to Brasserie des Halles de L’Ile (Place de l’Ile 1Geneva 1204Switzerland)  for brunch with Helen Swain a lovely expat who happened to contriute to the App for Geneva. After a lovely brunch and repeated trips to the buffet  I decided to check out the city beach.

Geneva is just so scenic and I even met some readers while sunbathing!

I then had dinner at Café du Centre (Place du Molard 5, 1204 Geneva,+41 22 311 85 86) with my readers Mayssa and  Thu, then they took me to a gelato place I can’t recall and we just walked around enjoying the view. Nothing beats a night time stroll!

Day 3 in Geneva.

After all that walking on Day2 breakfast in bed was a must have! I then took a boat cruise from

Genève Mont-Blanc Pier (Quai du Mont-Blanc, 1201 Genève). It was an hour long and the journey was around Geneva’s shores.

From the «Pierres du Niton» to the «Pointe à la Bise» I hadunparalleled views of the “Jet d’eau”, the Mont-Blanc mountain, monuments, famous villas, the UN building.Cruise announcements were made in French and English.

After the cruise I just walked around Geneva buying little trinkets and presents then made my way home.

(Also the flight is only an hour long with Swiss Air!!!)

I really enjoyed my trip to Geneva and will definitely go again. It is a really cosmopolitan city with lots of hustle and bustle but far cleaner and friendlier than a lot of big cities.

Flights are relatively cheap  with SWISS offering up to 19 daily flights from London Heathrow, London City, Birmingham and Manchester to Zurich from £149 return.

Geneva can be a little expensive in terms of shopping but it depends where you go! Geneva would be a great place to escape to with a friend or significant other. What to do in Geneva

Any questions let me know!

*I was invited  to Geneva and hosted by the Swiss Tourism board but as always my opinions are all my own.
