I finally get to write about my own collection how insane! I started this blog well it was called ‘the musings of nrc’ back then and it was just a platform to document my ‘passion for fashion’ (how cringe worthy is that phrase? forgive me I was young) and now six years later I get to document my very own graduate collection. This collection means much to me and I feel so lucky to be sharing it here on my little piece of the internet. I have to thank my parents for letting me chase this dream and for being there every step of the way even though they don’t understand it. g raduate fashion week 2015

The title for my collection is (Strength Architecture and) the Feminine and the Feminist. I sought to show that Femininity and Feminism are not mutually exclusive through the use of silhouettes influenced by ideas of strength, architecture and well femininity. It was a way of visually showing my own feminist ideals read that I can be a feminist and still be very feminine, I can be a feminist and sexy I can own who I am as a woman without it taking away the fact that I am equal to a man and deserve the same rights and wage etc.

The NRC woman to me is strong, smart, sassy and sexy.

Look 1 is a strong silhouetted patent leather jacket with a dramatic collar that echoes strength juxtaposed by a long floaty maxi with a sassy high slit that is all about the sexy.

Look 2 is a Long high neck silk crepe top with a double slit, with a leather belt and cuff I made and lamp nappa leather leggings with asymmetric seams.

Look 3 is a silk jersey polo neck with a suede wrap skirt and dramatic patent panel.

Look 4 a suit made from the most amazing wool cashmere couture suiting.

Look 5 look a floor length wool cashmere coat with high dramatic collar, silk jersey polo neck and super soft Japanese leather trousers with an architectural  closing.

Look 6 was a silk jersey dress paired with a suede and patent leather jacket but the jacket didn’t work on this model.

The fabrics I used were the most beautiful Japanese leather, patent pig leather, suede, lamb stretch leather, wool cashmere, Italian couture suiting, silk, silk jersey and silk crepe. I was lucky enough to win an Award from the Worshipful Company of Curriers so was able to source the best leathers and suedes for my collection.
